Cabezon Peak, New Mexico

Cabezon Peak is a volcanic core rising some 2,200 feet over the Rio Puerco valley northwest of Albuquerque, NM. It's an ever-present feature on the horizon when viewed from the northern foothills of the Sandia Mountains, some 45 miles away. Summer monsoon clouds give it a new look almost every evening, with layers of clouds and color.
