After years of driving by a North Texas salvage yard off the interstate, I finally stopped to examine the many old and classic auto shapes I had seen from the road. As it turned out, it wasn’t the old bodies that fascinated me; it was the abstract nature of their corroded doors and other parts. Ten years hence, I’ve walked through more than 20,000 vehicles in yards from Fresno to Phoenix to Central Texas and elsewhere. Here are some of the images I’ve captured “out of doors.”
